I posted this in the Chargerforumz group but figure it can't hurt to post here.

In the last 4 months my Check engine light has come on atleast 1 time each month. I would go and get it scanned at a local place. They said it was the coolant temp was too low. the last time i wasn't satisfied with that answer so took to a dealer. they put it on their scanner they said the found 32 stored codes all the same.
Code was "loss of Communication" they didn't tell me the code number. He said basically the computer was losing power at some point. (I have NO idea) The went on to ask me if i had been having a problem with my battery. NO i haven't. They said its running fine so i wouldn't worry about it. It came on again this morning.
Has any of you ever heard of this? should i worry about it?
My warranty run out yesturday (sept 29th) owned it 3 yrs only has 29856miles on it.
If i take it back to have it seviced and have the sheet they gave me the last time showing the same problem do you think it will be covered under the warranty? any info wil help. Thank you.

What temp thermostat do you have? If its 170 that could be causing that too low coolant temp. If you have the stock thermostat in it, it may be sticking open at times. May be worth putting a new one in. With what the dealer said, there may be a single wire pulled back in a connector some place that could cause that. May be the devil to find. As far as the warranty covering it, I would think if you have previous service calls for that same issue that they may cover it if they are at all decent.

I can't understand why they didn't repair it when you had it there in the first place, if it is/was still under warranty, I think its worth a shot to take it back to the dealer and tell them you want it fixed, just as Joe said, this should be considered a previous issue, and they should have a record of your visit and they should have the code that it gave them! Keep us posted.

i have a 170 in my car no problems yet. you need to find someone with a prediter tuner and it will tell you what is wrong with it and the go from there.

I haven't changed my Thermostat its still the factory one. I will look onto it though. may just goto the cooler if it needs replacing.

Thats one of the things thats bothering me. Why didn't they fix it or even ask if I wanted them to fix it. They just acted like it was no big deal. On the Chargerforumz Hawkeye4077 said it would be considered a (Know Problem) as long as i have the reciept that states the problem.
So i am planning on taking it back in. If I can, I will trying to take it back to where I bought it, Ilderton Dodge in High point, I have had nothing but good things from them. The place near me where i took it to be repaired was North Point Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Maybe with the problems I have had I will get a nice loaner (lol J/K) Thanks for your replies. Will

As long as the problem/s were documented before the warranty expired you will be fine.

Taking it to a different dealer shouldn't be a problem, they should have you in the system and it can be pulled up at any location, as far as a loaner I wouldn't hold my breath, besides if it is the PCM that sholud not take long to check out and replace, unless they have to order one.
