Ok so i heard about this resonance thing with Flowmaster exhaust... I did not heed any warnings as I simply love the America Thunder sound so I got the cat-back system with 40's. Love them...sound is amazing however I do have the dreaded problem many warned me about. With that said I set out to figure out how to reduce it...resonators are a costly option and will require cutting ect. I found this post below on a Ford forum and side what the heck, I will give it a try...cost is very low and only takes about 20 min to complete. Needless to say I was skeptical.

The results are in...it works. I wont claim the results this guy does however it has reduced the resonance more then half. It cost me $6 in material and 20 min of my time. Anyone who has the issue should try it...you can play around with where the reducers are in your tips and you will get different results...very much worth it.

Peace and God Speed to you all.

OK... I did some research on this... Tips with holes are actually called resonators. The are a few different types. Here's what I did. I got some reducers about four inches long, drilled holes (actually a lot) in the smaller diameter and inserted them small end first into the flowmaster tip...So now I have a dual wall type tip. WOW!! incredible ... The drone is almost COMPLETELY gone. I could not believe it. ALL of the annoying vibration/resonance gone. The sound is almost the same..... maybe a little quieter. I love to tinker with stuff and it is even better when it all works the way you plan it.

The tips that come with the FM kit are not resonators. I have not seen the blastin bob thingy however I imagine it all the same. The idea is to change the vibration/frequency so its not the same as the car. Adding that piece causes minor turbulence in the exhaust thus changing the vibration. No change in FM sound. The good thing is you can try different size holes and position of the reducer to make the it go away. Pretty cool stuff. I will post some pics when I take the tips off again.
