View Full Version : 3.5 hp gain from custom tuning
Hi there boys and girls!to all of you that have 3.5s like myself I have some dyno numbers to share.a friend from chargerforumz posted some dyno numbers from his mods.he has cai predator and r/t exhaust.at the first run he got 181 hp and 214tq.then they tweaked the air/fuel and got 191hp.went back tweaked the timing and put down an impressive 200hp and 240tq.he is running the 91tune.I would have transferred the thread but I only have a cell.imagine with the headers lower intake and bigger tb what can be had!thanks go to Toddstone from the Z for posting these numbers.

sickr bee 09-22-2009, 12:55 PM Is the car being done a 5 or 4 speed auto, as my 4 speed is not compatible with that tuner. Did they get numbers at stock, before the changes? Ive got more or less the same setup, minus tuner, the CAI makes more lower end, the exhaust top end, so I just don't see that much improvement from these tuners, on the 3.5s.
I think his a 5speed.yea that's what a lot of people say but with the predator it is.I have got 183 rwhp on the dyno.I have a k&ncai and predator with the 93tune installed.the headers would put on his would net even more.the ported/polished lower intake and p/p larger tb is said add up to 8hp.there is the talk about lowend hp and trq loss with true duels but you should be able to get that back or at least fix it some what with playing with the timing with the predator.
Ooops I forgot thanks Mopar for the link up!also modern muscle has put 304 to the rear with a stock exhaust on a 3.5 with a sc they developed.
sickr bee 09-22-2009, 01:43 PM Yeah, I've been thinkin of getting the p&p lower intake, and throttle body. As far as the true dual, there's no way to install the heatshield on my saddle tank, and there is NO performance increase from true duals, just look and sound better, I was running a Cherry bomb 1to2 homemade duals, but just installed the Magnaflow duals, minus the rear resos, so loud and dual I've got. When ur combining street/race u have to compromise as one does nothing for the other, I've be doing that for years, just not so sure I want to drop 375 bucks, for somethin I'm not sure will give me that much moneys worth. These cars seem to learn pretty good on their own, and runnin primo fuel, has it's own advantages/disadvantages, but I've allways run plus in this engine, and my last 04 hemi. Think I'll change the plugs to Bosch Iridium on this next, now that IS worth the bucks!
I haven't seen anything saying there is no real gain of one exhaust over the other.there have been enough guys using the true duel with headers that say they don't feel like they lost any lowend.heat sheild I am using a stick on shield.most are using this.I think Todds numbers show its worth it.I was told the loss happens at valve overlap.so it seems that custom tuning would help over come this or at least cut it down.I wish I could get what I have for 375.I paid that just for the headers.I also have highflow cats from magnaflow yes they flow more than stock and flowmaster r/t kit with super40s x pipe and resos.all to be put on still.when its done I will hit the dyno and have it custom tuned and post results

BEE, yes you can install a heat shield on the drivers side of your gas tank. I did it with mine and have no problems with it and right now it has been raining for almost 2 solid weeks here. run through mud and water puddles and still going strong. I got the shield through AutoZone where I work. and a can of 3M Industrial adhesive spray.
SE with a R/T exhaust system.

Hey that's cool!I ordered mine from thermo tech.did you put a piece on the inside of the rear fender where the reso is?I am going to even though the resos with the flowmaster kit are small.
