Lost power late last night in Wilmington, but it's already back up. Strong wind gusts and rain are continuing, but it looks like it'll be out of the area by this afternoon. I hope everyone north of us is prepared, as there's no doubt it's going to continue to cause serious issues over the next few days.

I'm sitting here with the generator running. Power on & off since 2 am. Needed to burn that older gas out of it anyway.

Back side of roof lost shingles, roof leaked, thought about going up there too make repairs. I probably would have wound up in the trees somewhere. Three downed trees, pasture fences down in some areas. Downed tree in the driveway. Lots of cleanup to do around here. Challenger and all other vehicles safe. Challenger was in the garage, all others in the middle of the back yard. :git:

When we live in Pensacola Florida and hurricanes’ come thought and lost power.
I would hook up the generator to the house main fuse panel buy tuning off the main power switch and wire 220V to the house side of the main switch(NOT THE POWER SUPPLY SIDE OF SWITCH) from the generator with 12 gage wire with a 220 plug from the generator. This way it doesn’t back feed thought the power supply and kill a line worker which can happen if its wire on the wrong side of the switch were power is supply.
A 220v system has two different wire layouts,
1) has three wire main wires, Black is hot, White is hot, and Green or Bare is ground. With the main power switch off, access the switch leads (wires’). Place wire to the house side of the main switch as the color code.
2) Has four wires, Black is hot, Red is hot, White is neutral or ground, and Green or Bare is ground.
Most generators have a three outlet for 220V. If your home has a four wire system, it can be wire with the three outlets.
Turn the main switch off access the leads (wires) of switch, wire the house side main as color code, to generator, wire the black and red to the hot and the white and green or bare wire them together as ground .
This will take out running all those extension cords and you can use the house wiring system. If the generator has capability it can run ac, hot water heater, and most household accessories.
Hope this is helpful in the time of need.
