So I made up my mind - I wanted a simple T-handle shifter for my '10 Charger. Shifter knob swap ranks just above door lock knobs on a normal difficulty scale, but not with this ride. hahaha
The Charger has a plastic sleeve that clips onto a smooth stick. So unlike the good ol days, you cant just spin one off and spin on a new one. I suppose I coulda threaded the stick and then spun one on, but theres no fun in that.
I cut the tapered end of the stick, drilled out the t-handle and inserted a new plastic sleeve into the t-handle. It took me a couple of hours to get everything right and get the right height for the handle. But it worked out nicely and I am going to go ahead and call this mod finished.
Its too dark now to get a picture, but I plan to snap one tomorrow morning.

They must have changed that later on... mine is an '06 and my shifter handle just unscrewed right off with no problems at all. The funny part is that even though mine is threaded I had to use a set screw to attach the B/T shifter I have now so the threads were useless... go figure lol

Yeah - not sure when they changed it, but wish they hadn't. hahaha.
Its all done now tho. Here are some pics to show the t-handle and one from the side to show the change in height.

Very nice, nothing like making it custom.

It looks awesome! good job! Could I make one suggestion though? I'd get the shaft cover from Billet Technology for 20 bucks. it just makes the shifter look "beefier" Of course you could probably get away with using any kind of tubing to go over it. You're obviously very capable of making it yourself too! :D
Here's a link to the cover I was talking about so you can get an idea of what I mean

Keep up the awesome work!!

a shifter handle is probably going to be my first mod. however i am not as skilled as you are. does anyone know if they make a fairly simple (as in so simple a blonde could do it) t-handle shifter replacement kit for a 2010 dodge charger sxt?

I have changed it several times since this thread started. I even made a shifter handle out of an actual revolver grip.
For the 2010 shifter swap - best thing I can recommend is getting a Hurst t-handle kit or pistol grip kit. They run between 20 and $40 at Pepboys, but come with several incerts to make the install easy. I just grabbed the pistol grip kit and matched my smooth stick to one of the threads - then threaded the stock stick so I could swap out handles later on.
Some kits have plastic sleeves which work well with our car. Best advice is find a shifter you like with a set screw - will make life easy. ;)
