View Full Version : 10/29/11 Members Picnic at Fred Howard Park
We have Picnic Area 6 for October 29th! It is ours from 8 AM to dusk! I put it on my credit card! It is the most sought after picnic area because of its location. As I was booking it, someone else wanted to book it!
Bring the family! There is a playground, there are areas to go fishing, you can go to the beach and swim, and there is a ball field! And I think there are horseshoe pits. Sorry about the no alcohol part!
There are ten tables and enough room for 80 people! The area has grills so we will have to bring charcoal. Restrooms are not far from the picnic area.

Rigitony 07-18-2011, 03:44 AM Awesome Idea! I'm Def. Game!!
BigJuice55 07-18-2011, 09:36 AM Sounds like a good plan to me. I doubt that I will be able to make it if it is in Sept because I will be out of town most of the month.
Below is the link for Fred Howard Park. Picnic Area 3 is first come first serve, it cannot be reserved. Picnic Area 1 can be reserved. Saturday October 15th, the week after the Wiregrass Car Show, would be a good day for the picnic. Please let me know what you think about the day and the Picnic Area. There is a map of the Picnic Areas on the link I provided if you think another area would be better. Thanks.

Anyone want to call me and discuss this please call 727-267-6585.
BKuz
BigJuice55 07-22-2011, 06:11 PM I think it's no problem with the alcohol.........I'll just keep mine in my car....lol. Once we lock down the date and when we get a little closer we can discuss who is gonna bring what.

Ware is this park located???
Hi Hemifoot07,
Fred Howard Park is in Tarpon Springs right on the Gulf. The Picnic Area looks right out on the Gulf! You do not have to look at the back of another Picnic Area. I included a Google Map link so you can see where it is located! There is a lot to do at the Park. If you like to fish, bring the fishing rod.

Paper plates, plastic utensils, and/or napkins. Are you going to bring any family? There is plenty to do at the Park!

Great, thx! I guess if we make it i can bring some drinks ( soda, water, adult bev):smiley_thumbs_up:
Hi Hemifoot07,
Soda and water will be great! Alcohol is not allowed in the Park, so that is something you will have to keep out of sight! I know that sucks, there is nothing greater with a picnic than an ice cold Brewski!
BKuz
Christine Lives 08-01-2011, 11:25 PM If I come, I will need a address for my Garmin. I will be coming from South of where you are at!

whoyadoc 08-03-2011, 11:11 PM Done Deal! I will be there! I will bring by world famous Monkey on a Stick. For those who have not been to the Philippines, it is marinated strips of beef on a wooden stick(skew), and cooked over a grill. I will have tasty modestly spiced ones, and for those who enjoy the great taste of the Habanero pepper, I will have plenty that 'have a purpose in life'. :pepper: :pepper::pepper:
Really looking forward to a great day!
Hi Whoyadoc,
So you were in the PI! You were probably at Subic Bay! I had friends that were at Clark AB on the PI. We will be glad to try your Monkeys on a Stick!
BKuz
Wildbee659 08-04-2011, 05:36 PM John, bring the monkeys on a stick, they sounds delicious. I almost made it to PI right before Mount Pinatubo blew its top in 1991 and volcanic ash covered Clark AB. At the time I was station in Guam.
If we want to give the Picnic a Halloween Theme for the kids, I have access to a skeleton made of real bones for decorations. Also, I can bring candy for the kids. Does anyone else have any Halloween decorations?
BKuz
Wildbee659 08-06-2011, 06:28 PM I may have some and can bring them if I can find them.LOL Can also bring candy.
Bkus, this was a great idea and can't wait for 10/29/11 to get here.
Wildbee659,
I am looking forward to it too! We were at the park today and there is a field behind the picnic area. One or two people mentioned they might bring RC planes! That will be cool!
BKuz
Wildbee659 08-07-2011, 07:35 PM I don't have a R/C plane yet, but I do have awesome gas powered 4WD Revo truck by Traxxas. Top speed around 45+ mph. I have thought about going to Quaker Steak & Lube on Monday nights when they have a track setup for R/C cars.
jbeam 08-07-2011, 09:28 PM I used to fly Electric RC planes. Now my dad and I are trying to get back into electric RC offroad racing. I have a Nitro Team Losi Stadium Truck I can bring to pass time. Get a lil race going!
Wildbee659 08-08-2011, 03:25 AM Sounds good, should be fun to do some racing.
That sounds like a lot of fun!!! Bring all your RC trucks, cars, and planes. I have a RC helicopter. I can put a camera on it to film the races!!! LOL!!
BKuz
Wildbee659 08-09-2011, 05:53 PM I started my Revo truck yesterday for the first time in six months or more. I had to buy new fuel and she ran ok. She need a tuning and I'll be ready for some racing. Bring it on!!!LOL
How much did you pay for that truck? It probably was expensive!!

Wildbee659 08-10-2011, 04:45 AM I didn't know the price was that much for one now. Mine is a 1st gen model, it has a smaller 2.5R motor instead of the 3.3 motor. I bought it 6yrs ago for about $300, it has AWD, independed coilover suspension-adjustable, 2sp tranny with reverse, and still running strong. I only had to replace a the upper "A" arm after my son crashed into a mailbox post.LOL . Here are some pics.
Here are some pictures of Howard Park. The causeway always has people fishing on it! Enjoy!

Rigitony 08-14-2011, 11:02 PM Ronnie Setzer has a R/C dirt trac across from his shop. Not to many people know he also does R/C shiz including a hobby shop w/in his body shop. He has racing every Friday night.
I myself haven't go into the decent R/C cars. My kid has a couple cheapo's from Toys R Us. some day I want to. I used to fly planes on a reg. basis. But haven't for a yr or so now.
DeepWaterBlue 08-30-2011, 08:17 PM I'll probably go, not sure what I'll bring yet, but it will be awesome!
You are welcome! Bring the family. Do you have a good radio with a varied selection of music? There is no electric at the park, maybe someone has a small generator. I will also see if someone has horseshoes or some other outdoor games.
BKuz
DeepWaterBlue,
You can bring some paper plates, napkins, or utensils.

My lady is traveling that day to D.C. I wont be able to attend any of the events this month! Sorry:smiledown:
BigJuice55 10-14-2011, 11:42 PM Sorry to say it guys, but I wont be able to attend the picnic. I was originally suppose to close on my new house and move in the week before our picnic. Today I got a call from my loan people and they stated that my closing has to be pushed back due to our piss poor government. I am getting my loan via USDA and they have been waiting on Congress to replenish their funds and it is not expected to happen for atleast another few weeks.....thanks a-holes! On a positive side, the house is mine and everything else is approved and done, but we have to wait until the loan is handed over then we can close. With that being said I will be moving the weekend of our picnic.:shakehead:
baja73 10-14-2011, 11:45 PM Congrats on the house.
whoyadoc 10-15-2011, 02:27 AM Priorities bro... Congrats on the House!!! :woohoo: Great to hear it will happen!!!
You know you have to have a house warming party so we all can buy you all those neet things for your house that you would never buy, but have to keep because they were presents!!! I promise, no pink flamingos, or signs of fat ladies bending over for the front yard. I do guarentee some bottles of my wine!!! :Banana01:
Enjoy, take care of business, and see you soon.
DOC

Rigitony 10-21-2011, 12:56 PM Het peeps! I'm sorry to say we won't be making the picnic as planned. I already told a friend of mine a while ago that we would be attending his Halloween party on that same date. I never put it in my calendar so I forgot all about it until recently when he sent me a reminder. MY BAD! My sincere apologies. Hopefully we can do this again soon. My wife wants to have a Christmas party at the house. So maybe then. I'll give people heads up as time gets a bit closer.

papawana 10-21-2011, 10:57 PM checking what everyone is bringing I no longer see hot dogs & hamburgers...we are at 8 members with no official head count yet...I will bring the hot dogs and hamburgers & buns but a head count would help a lot

Did you get my message about the stereo? The car has an integrated AMP built inside. I am going to go to Best Buy and see what they can do for me.

Hi Papawana,
I have 8 club members listed coming to the picnic. That is if more don't bail out at the last minute. Family members, I know it is my wife and myself, Boadude has his wife and two sons, Whoyadoc might bring someone, and you and your warden. Wildbee659 and his wife. That is 12 so far. 1Hotwgn, Hemifoot07, and DeepWaterBlue might have someone they are bringing. That makes 15 and it will be more if they bring someone. I can't give an exact amount until I hear from them.

DeepWaterBlue 10-25-2011, 04:52 PM OK, I am definately going, bringing the wife and maybe one small munchkin. Page one shows me bringing paper plates, cups, utensils, etc, but I was told in this thread NOT to bring that, just bring a dish of food of some sort. Is that still correct? I can bring whatever is needed, just let me know. I'll check this thread later.
Please bring paper plates, cups, napkins, and utensils. There was a little confusion about the plates, cups, and etc. but I got it squared alway! Yes please bring those items. We will be bringing games to play and Radio Controlled Cars, Trucks, and Airplanes. It will be fun times for all ages!!! If it is a windy day maybe someone can bring a few kites. Thank you.

Will do, see you all there!
Hello Everyone,
The forecast is for rain tonight and early tomorrow morning and then it is supposed to clear up towards late morning. The picnic has a large covered pavilion so if it rains early no one will get wet. The picnic is still on and I will be there at 10:00 AM to get things going. We are at Picnic Area 6. It will probably be breezy so I am going to buy a few kites for the kids.
See you all tomorrow!
