View Full Version : Upgrading my suspension!!!!
Gurry624 06-09-2011, 06:53 PM Last year i bought Eibach the Eibach Sportline lowering springs and have been riding the springs with the factory shocks, car riding like a boat on water. Well, the past few months i've been noticing some sqeeks coming from under the car. Narrowed the sqeeks to be coming from the shocks and the bushings. Well, last week I ordered the Eibach Pro-dampers shocks/struts which they came in on Tuesday and today I just ordered the Eibach front and rear swaybars with polyurethane bushings, which they should be in on saturday. So this weekend I'll be installing my new suspension, then on monday my car goes in the shop to be repaired from the accident i got in on Friday. I'm gonna feel like i'm riding in a brand new car!!!!

It should be A LOT of fun. One of my friends does autoX in his mustang and I told him everything I bought for my car, (racing harness, lowering springs, pro-dampers, thicker sway bars) and he asked me if I was going for autoX. I said it sure sounds like it, lol.
And I'm hoping to have it back before Scrapin. The think thats gonna take so long is the front bumper. Once ordered, it takes like 3 days to process then another 5-7 before I get it. I might just get the door and sideskirt fixed before Scrapin then bring it back afterwards to get the front taken care of.
Igolo 06-10-2011, 01:40 PM Sounds like a plan...didn't realize you were gonna fix the frontend too. Good deal, it is gonna be a new car..lol
Gurry624 06-10-2011, 03:23 PM Yup yup, he hit me, so he gonna pay. Lol
Gurry624 06-13-2011, 03:40 PM Alright, so Saturday night my friends and I broke down the Charger and replaced the factory front and rear shocks and sway bars with the eibach pro dampers and eibach sway bars. Took about 6 hours, that's with stopping for dinner and quite a few drink brakes. When all was said and done, I took the car out for a test drive. AMAZING!!! So much better than worn out factory equipment. However, I had some clunking, clicking, and somekind of humming noise. But by this time it was three in the morning, so we decided to pack it up and tackle the noises on Sunday.
So Sunday night after work I go back to my friends house to find these problems.
Issue 1) Clunking - ended up being that we forgot to tighten the front shock shaft nuts on both sides of the front of the car after we put the car back on the ground.
Issue 2 and 3) Clinking and Humming - This has got to be one of the biggest Deet Da Dee moments of my life. Turns out, we installed the rear sway bar backwards. When I took the rear wheels off, grease was everywhere. We busted both half shaft boots from the sway bar sittin on them when the car is on the ground. (Humming noise). And the clinking noise was the rear sway bar hitting the underbody of the car cause when installed backwards the sway dips up instead of down to avoid the body.
So I got to work on the car starting at 10:00. Tightened the front end bolts, dropped the rear cradle, flipped the sway bar, reinstalled the cradle. 3:00 am this morning, finished. Took a test drive to Baskin Robbins............... NO NOISES!!!! Took a turn at 30mph, hooked, turned, NO TIRE SQUEAL.... I'm excited!!!!
However, due to my accident two Fridays ago, the Charger went in the shop this morning to get her repairs. So when I get her back, I'll feel like i am driving a brand new car!!!!
Igolo 06-13-2011, 03:44 PM Wow, sounds like a heck of a weekend!!! Glad ya'll figured everything out and glad it wasn't anything worse than what it was!! I didn't even realize you could put the rear in backwards...lol I guess your a pro now at dropping that rear cradle..lol
