I installed a set of Votgland sport lowering springs in my 2010 R/T over the weekend and went and had the alignment checked at a Tires Plus store this morning. They are saying the front and rear both need adjustments, and that the rear will need a Camber Kit ($90.00 X 2), plus about $300.00 for the front alignment. From what they are saying they need to make the adjustments to the engine cradle, and it’s a time consuming job (make an adjustment, check the alignment, and repeat util it’s right). I was wondering if other folks who have put lower springs have had the same issue. The springs lowered the car right at 1.5 inches all the way around.
One other thing I noticed was before I put the springs in, my right rear was about ½ inch higher than the other wheels. After the spring install, it’s still about ½ inch higher. Anybody run into this? If so, can it be corrected, and how?

Thanks

Hmm, when I got my springs installed the shop charged me $400 and that covered install, alignment, and whatever else was needed.

Yeah that price seems high. I had my Techco installed and didnt get my alignment til 4 months later and they were able to dial it in with zero issues.

Thanks Guys
I'm taking it to the Dodge dealer tomorrow for a second opinion. Having installed the springs myself, I just want to make sure I didn't do anything to screw it up, it was my first spring replacement. Everything went pretty well, a few minor issue, but I worked through them. Will let you know what I find out.

I had my alignment and camber adjusted a few months after lowering my Dakota 4 inches and Firestone had no problems with it when I bought new tires last October. Oh, and alignments only run $129.95 lifetime.

I am not sure about the Challenger, but the shop manual for the LX chassis has a section on alignment changes by tweaking the cradle. My alignment tech said this AM when I asked that is is no big deal to do...the diagram in the shop shows only 4 bolts involved. See if you can get a copy of a shop manual (on CD) and read the section on alignments before you proceed.

I had a performance alignment shop do my alignment.

I went to Tires Plus first as well and the mechanic told me to go to a performance shop.

So, I lowered my suspension 2 inches. I was .5 on the left for camber and 1.5 on the right. Caster was 9.5 on the left and 10 on the right. The toe was really out and needed that adjusted.

Did you get the printout of the alignment? My right tire will wear, but with the track racing I do he recommended that I just rotate the front tires side to side.

My Eibachs have adjustments for the springs, did yours?

It was hard dialing in the correct height. Did you seat the springs correctly?

I went with the Votgland springs, they didn't have any adjustments. I took the car to the dealer but they had to wing it because they didn't have the software on their alignment rig for the 2010 R/T (pretty dumb). They were able to do the adjustments, I can't recall what all they adjusted. I got a printout from the first tire shop, which told me like $400-$500 to do the alignment because they would need to adjust the engine cradle to get it align correctly. The dealer just made the adjustments to the toe and camber on the front and rear and got it pretty close. It drives fine, and I haven't notice any abnormal wear, but time will tell. Not sure about how to seat the spring (first time I ever changed springs). It did seem that when I was putting the rear's back together, the spring wanted to jump out of the lower rubber retainer, and there seemed to be a small gap after the install. I read somewhere that it takes a little driving to get them seated a broken in. The car is sitting well now, I haven't rechecked the ride hight it a while. I'm sitting in Afghanistan now, won't be back for a few months. Am really missing my ride (oh, and my wife).
