View Full Version : Ouch !
1FastHemi 04-17-2011, 06:09 PM The wife and I got up this morning and I went over the car with my ususal detail spray and we jumped in the car to go get some Breakfast. When we got to the restraunt I parked in the middle of two parking spaces, no where close to either vehicle on either side.
Upon returning to the car, I noticed the same two vehicles were on each side of our vehicle. We then drove out to Wal-Mart to do a little shopping. I went around the car to open the door for the wife and HAD A FIT!!!!!!! The Passenger door is now bent. We only drove less than mile after breakfast. Heard nothing, Saw nothing and have no idea how it happened. To make it even harder to figure out, there wasn't even a scratch in the paint, it was just bent in the crease of the door.
Well, I guess I am going to try to get it fixed before the Battleship show if I can or put a large band aid on it. BOY AM I P----D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad Mopar 04-17-2011, 06:31 PM That's enough to make a person sick!! Good Luck on getting it fixed!! It's BS that people have no Respect for others anymore!!
Viper Truck 04-17-2011, 06:42 PM I am speechless.... I hope it can be fixed for the Battleship show.

LoneStar 04-17-2011, 09:04 PM Was it windy? If the wind got a hold of the other guys door it might of done that. If it wasn't windy I would say the guy did it on purpose. No way would he have done that by just opening the door normally.

I thought about the wind, but that wasn't the case here this morning as things were calm and I was 1/2 a space from the nearest car. As far another door, If it was, it didn't even scratch the paint.. I'm confused on what hit it and didn't leave a mark. It's a good thing I didn't catch someone as I would be have to make bail to get out after what I might have done.
I'm going to get it looked at tomorrow. I hope it doesn't cost to much, I have a 750 deductible and don't want to report a claim if I don't have to.
georgiaslim 04-17-2011, 09:40 PM Thats a nice sized dent. Someone had to feel that when they did it. Freaking jerks......I would be so pissed of right now.
Igolo 04-17-2011, 09:40 PM Ouch!!! for sure!! I hate to see that man! Hope you can get it taken care of soon!
challygirl 04-18-2011, 12:31 AM Yikes Earnie!!!!!!!!!!!! That look's BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they had that rubber door moulding on the edge of their door, it probably wouldn't leave a scratch just a big dent like you have!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad you didn't notice it before you left the restaraunt!:shakehead: I would have killed them.:box2:
Pooske 04-18-2011, 01:59 AM This is what make you want to park way out from the store away from all vehicles!!
Thommo 04-18-2011, 07:14 AM Someone door banged my right front fender when my car was new and it left a big dent, but it also left white paint in the dent and messed up the clear coat. I'm thinking your dent looks like a hand or a foot. The dent doctor guys can do wonders, but that dent might require filler and paint. Sorry to see this happened, I know you gotta be sick and stompin' mad.
n2fordmuscle 04-18-2011, 11:22 AM Wow Earnie! That sucks!! Hope it doesn't take too much to get her fixed. Good luck!
NOTPAID4 04-18-2011, 02:56 PM I really hate that for YOU. Really SUX!!! That big of a dent looks intentional to me!!! Best of luck getting it fixed back up!
Christine Lives 04-18-2011, 06:01 PM God that is terrible. Good luck fixing her and have a great time at the show!
Destinee
HotInferno 04-18-2011, 06:59 PM Damn Earnie, looks like the same exact dent I found after parking in the middle of nowhere and shopping here at Sams in Mobile!
let me know how you have it repaired, looking to have mine done as paintless dent removal locally.
I know how p----d off you are because I feel the same way!
1FastHemi 04-18-2011, 11:15 PM I would like to say thanks to everyone for your comments and concerns.
I lucked out, I took off from work today and ran by 3 body shops and got some estimates. The price ran from $750 to $1,400 and would be without the car for about a week to a week and and a half. The lady at the most expensive but the best body shop in town recommended a person to try first before putting it in a body shop. I gave him a call and went by where he was working. He charged me $150 and I think he did an excellent job (no sanding, no painting, just a paintless dent removal). He lives in Pensacola. FL and work in Alabama Monday through Thursday but can do work in Pensacola if needed on Friday or Saturday.. See Pictures in Photo Bucket (http://s968.photobucket.com/albums/ae168/DocFeelgood_al/DSM%20-%20Deep%20South%20Mopars/Mobile%20Chapter/Misc%20Items/2011%2004%2017%20Right%20Door%20Damage/?albumview=slideshow)
DO I FEEL GOOD NOW !

2000 Dodge Ram 04-19-2011, 12:49 AM it's sad that people are that careless or just plain don't care about others belongings! they don't even think twice...not sure how they can sleep at night sometimes! sorry to hear about the damage but glad that you were able to find someone that could take care of it! hope it never happens again!

It is only a guess, something heavy hit on the crease in the door. either a heavy door or something fell on it.. He didn't think it was a foot or a fist.. I will never know.

It took him about 2 or 3 hours and I was biting my nails the whole time hoping he could do the trick. I was afraid I would still have to put it in the body shop but all worked out  Now, It's back to work tomorrow
JHEMI RAY 04-19-2011, 02:15 AM I can't believe what a great job that guy did! I was sick to see the first post and very relieved to see the last one! I parked my Magnum way out by itself a few years ago when I went to the movies. When I came out, someone had taken a ball point pen to the passengers side door over and over again and then left the pen in the door handle. I don't know who these people are that refuse to let the rest of us have anything nice, but I hope there is a special place in hell for'em! Glad it worked out in the end...look forward to seeing you at the battleship!
RFISH67 04-19-2011, 08:13 AM Yep he's good he does all the work for most of the dealerships around town he did some work for me on my yeller car a couple of months ago at the porshe dealership you should have seen there faces when i pulled up in there it was great even the mechanics stoped working to check it out but he is very good at what he does if he cant see it under the lights no one will ever no there was a dent there .. glad it worked out for ya

It look like we found someone that can do great work for us and his price is reasonable. Thanks Mike
See everyone at the Cruise-In the night before the Battleship
HotInferno 04-19-2011, 04:44 PM Earnie, can you pm me his name and number, would love to get the one out of mine befor the Battleship!!! It looks great!
jstkilntim 04-20-2011, 01:20 AM Congrats on the easy fix. My own wife dinged my car in my own garage not too long after I got it. The paintless dent removal guy fixed it about 99.99%. I can still tell where it is if I look really hard, but nobody else would ever find it.
Unless there is actually a scratch, I would recommend everyone checking w/ a paintless dent removal expert before going to a body shop. Like you, I took it to a reputable body shop & he recommended the other guy first.

Did you ever get the ding my boy put in there for you fixed?
UnrulyNFS 04-22-2011, 01:30 AM This story should help a few of you feel better about jerks like this. keep in mind I'm not as young and dumb as I used to be. I had a blacked out camaro and was eating lunch with a girl outside at her work building... a nursing home to be exact. I then heard my car alarm go off not 20 yards away. Low and behold, a lady is trying to get her stuff and get gone with her door open against my car. I confronted her about the nice 2" paint removal on the trim piece noticing her car had the chrome door dinger strips to protect her door edges and they were beat to hell. She says, "oh its a little paint no big deal." BIG MISTAKE, I had a blacked out car and now there's a big grey area right in the door. I saw red. So I took my car key and scrapped a foot long gash below the widow on her door. I got the clear coat, the paint and the primer. I said "Then that's no big deal. Now we can get the police, take each others insurance and get each others doors repainted. Or you can leave." She gave a "humph", got in her car and slowly left making sure not to get too close to my car. True story.
Osprey37 04-22-2011, 02:55 PM Not sure if it's the same guy, but had a guy take a dent our of my right front fender in Fort Walton a couple months back, did a great job as well. It's amazing what they can do with just a hammer and other hand tools. Beats geting it bondo'd. And it cost me about the same.
