View Full Version : Tail Lights Finished Product
FRESH4849 03-25-2011, 12:45 AM Oh boy :shakehead: The tails have been sitting for quite a few hours so I started to remove all the tape. It all came off perfectly and didnt effect any of the lines, BUT the painters tape left glue residue and even pulled off some of the flat black paint. FML!!!
I busted my ass on these things for 2 days and cause a few small things they look like crap! They look freaking sweet till you get close and see what the freaking tape did to the flat black. The rage and cussing has been out the roof!!!
Well here is a pic of the finished product and a look at what happened to the flat black.
Tomorrow I am going to try hitting it all with a little wax and maybe some compound. Hopefully that will fix the small problems.

Jettech104 03-25-2011, 12:56 AM Sorry to hear that you had a setback at the end Chris.:shakehead: One of the reasons I hate painting parts. You spend so much time on the prep work to have small imperfications pop up at the end.:shakehead:
Pooske 03-25-2011, 12:57 AM sorry to see that!!

I have redone the left side tail 3 times today and it is still messed up. That side just does not want to cooperate with me. I still have to sand the whole thing down AGAIN and redo it. I hope I can have this one done and installed by next week. I have one that looks perfect and one that looks like complete s**t! I finally got the orange looking great and now its just the flat black that is giving me a time. :shakehead:

My Motto is "If you can see that little speck of whatever", "YOUR TOO CLOSE" !!!!!!!!!! You worry too much, Chris!
Chris what tape did you use?The flat can be a pain. You will most likely have to start completely over on the flat.Flat can be a real pain.

Yeah tell me about it I have spent 2 days on the flat. Today the paint kept krinkling up in certain spot so it didnt stick. Fixed it and then there were highs and lows in the paint and it looks like ass! So now I have to take all the flat off again and respray.

Toostep 04-21-2011, 01:12 AM You ever think about a template and some matte black vinyl?
FRESH4849 04-21-2011, 02:56 AM You ever think about a template and some matte black vinyl?
Yeah I did but I have messed with vinyl before on lights and the light shines through and I am NOT a fan of vinyl. Been thinking about trying to get all the Daytona stripes painted on. We will see.....
