View Full Version : Ummm.....can anyone help me with this?!
I was driving home today on I-85 just west of Charlotte and I came up behind this, modded Cavalier. After I took the first pic, he took off and I was playing hell with the late afternoon traffic, watching for the Men in Blue and trying to drive 80+ while snapping a picture.
Anyway, just WHAT THE #@%* are those things on his trunk?! There are cables (audio/visual?!) going into the trunk. They sort of appreared to be cameras but I couldn't get beside it long enough to get a good pic and flag him down to ask. Shortly afterward, he peeled off onto I-485 and I wasn't going to follow. Anyone know what these are?!?!

FlamehedCFH 03-21-2011, 11:54 PM Maybe he is recording traffic sounds for a video game? I have a professor/friend in the audio side of video games. I will ask him.

TopBananaGuy 03-22-2011, 12:09 AM It looks like the kind of device that would steal your Mojo if you got to close to it :) Looks like some kind of radar or something?
LoneStar 03-22-2011, 12:17 AM They look kind of like the lights a tow truck puts on a car in-tow. Did you see the front of them?

Well, they could of had the whatever mojo is left in this POS Impala work car I drive!! I don't know if they were cameras or speakers or what. I tried to get as close as possible but he wasn't allowing me or just had an agenda to get somewhere. He was driving well over 80 after I took the first couple of pics. Most are from way behind as I was trying to catch up. Anyway, I coudn't figure it out because they didn't look like anything I seen before. The one on the passenger side appeared to be pointing more forward so, if I had to guess, I would say some sort of camera. Maybe taking pictures of drivers? Women? Men? Who knows?!
Thanks for all your suggestions. I tend to see some strange stuff driving around as much as I do but these are definitely a first!!!!

SsirK 03-22-2011, 01:34 PM It appears to be an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) for Law Enforcement, although I don't know wny it would be on this type of vehicle aka " a POS." Maybe the guy saw them and thought they looked cool and decided to put some on his car?? Maybe its an unmarked unit?? Never seen that kind of vehicle used before for this.
Here's a link to an explination and a site with a picture of one on a police vehicle.

I thought about them when I saw it, but on a POS chevy. Maybe a "repoman" and they use it to find cars on their repo list. LOL:4-dontknow:
Pooske 03-22-2011, 03:38 PM No idea, it looks close to the tag camera, but not sure why they use an non state or county vehicle. Could be measuring the pollen in the air.

My nose is doing enough measuring for the pollen and I am not too happy about it either.

Trukcrazy 03-23-2011, 04:48 AM Maybe you should send it to the law enforcement agency and ask them since it looks suspicious. It could be something worse than we think.
