So last night I'm on the way over to my parents house. While coming out of my neighborhood I see my dad (midnightmagnum) and mom in front of me. Well it leads up to a divided hwy. I'm waiting behind dad and he merges onto hwy 43 at which point I come in behind him. He goosed it a little and I acclerated so that I was even with him to tell my mom I was on the way over to her house. It was at this time my dad slowed down and let me over so we could turn down his street. His street is probably 3/4 mile from my neighborhood. We never even got up to the speed limit. Next thing I know I see one of our LEOs in a charger no less coming up behind us. Well he pulls us over and then two other fellow officers come. Now my parents yard looks like a SWAT invasion. He gets out and says yall didn't see me? I said No I wasn't looking since I wasn't breaking the law. I said I wasn't speeding to which he replied "NO, You were racing":eek: So I flipped out and said he was nuts and that I just got up beside him to tell my mom something. Well he said it didn't matter if I was speeding and that "you can have a race on foot sir". I should have asked him if he'd have written a ticket for that too. So now Dad and I have a court date for racing on the HWY. The officer didn't even know the charger he ahd to have anothe rone look it up. He said that he saw our front ends slightly passing each other. Yeah that would be because I was pacing my dad to talk. One of the officers even said it's the first time she's seen this charge. She also said there was three of us against him in court. I said he was just pissed because he has a V6 charger.:p
Well now our court date is OCt 8th. Wish us luck. Oh and by the way it's not like we're highschool kids screwing around. My dad is 66 and mom is 53. I'm a 28 yr old school teacher.LOL

Heck no. Not when he gets to cross the HWY first and I have to merge on behind him. Too much of a head start. I asked the cop if he thought we were speeding and he said he didn't clock us. Heck he was sitting in the parking lot beside the stop sign I was at.

It's satsuma....... He'll have nothing better to do then show up. The actual ordinance dose'nt list anything about speed, it jsut says " a contest in which one vehicle trys to overtake the other, get to a location first, ......." Heck I didn't try to overtake, just get beside where i could talk.

Down here, you can be jailed just for watching a street race. It is bad down here. If you are caught street racing, it is jail time as well.

As for your court date, take a recorder. I would love to hear what comes out of the judges mouth on that one. PLEAAAAAASE, you can get one at walgreens for like $20... LOL

That would definitely have sucked. I would have hoped that a trained LEO could've told the difference. In all honesty he was doing his job and I'm sure my exhaust caught his attention. he just misinterpreted what he saw. i wish when he saw that it was my mother and father in the car he would've believed what I was trying to tell him. We both ended up with a ticket though.

Well here in our little town it's just a lawyer who comes in and sits for the cases. magistrate is what I think they call them. After talking to the court officer I'm thinking about requesting driving school. She said if he says no then I can plead not guilty and tell my side. If I just plead not guilty and get found guilty then there's no driving school and it goes and insurance and such.

Might have to look into the recorder though.....

We were found guilty.150 plus court.not mad bout the fine but the cop even said we were going no more then speed limit.worried bout insurance when they find out though.

The LEO also said that he heard us, then saw us as we were decelerating....... So he didn't even see us "racing" as he calls it. We got screwed though because the prosecutor was pleaing everone done, then right before he gets to us the judge fussed about it so no plea for us.

Well that's enough to piss off the Pope! Sorry to hear about it, hopefully this will not come back to haunt you later.

That sucks. You should have requested a Jury trial.

I have met, and am friends with, a lot of law enforcement people. Some are down to earth and some are just A-holes.

Yea wow no doubt this sucks!I feel lately the law enforcers are getting way out of hand.you can't even be pissed and voice your opinon with out getting in trouble.don't get me wrong my dad was a cop the better part of his 30years in the navy.then put in 21years with the police dept in chs.I will say I drive a v6 charger and love it!
