Calipers were the brush on "caliper kit" paint from Advance Auto. Comes in a box with cleaner also. If you use this kit, be sure to use your own paint brush though. The one they give you in the kit is junk and falls apart. I think I paid $17 for the kit.

Rotors - I used just some black high heat paint designed for rotors in a spray can I got from AutoZone. I think it was about $5.

Awesome! They dont have the colors I want to use so I am hoping maybe these cans of OEM Mopar paint I have will work? I just dont know, only reason I havent done mine yet.

Great job on both the calipers and the wheels ~ Looks AWESOME!!!

Tee and I just bought some HIgh temp paint and painted ours and I think they came out GREAT ~ Spent $7 and sprayed em; just used an old tee shirt and wrapped around the calipers.... we did ALL of our like this ~ works great and can do 'em in NO time with out even removing the calipers.

If I told you that, then I'd be -rep points. lol

I just used some Plasti Dip spray. I found a link on another site and started doing some research on it. Came out ok, and it's a lot cheaper than new wheels.

No problem... I have done mine and some for some other folks too; it's a lotta FUN for me!!! I must have 40 different cans of spray paint and can knock 'em out in no time... I do use brake cleaner first, blow them off with my air compressor, prime (but you really don't have to prime either), take and old cloth, pull tightly, and it'll wrap itself right around the calipers; then take a small screwdriver and tuck it in, in the corners. Take longer to jack the car up and pull the wheels than the actual JOB!

I had yellow that I wanted to paint my caliper on my BLUE R/T, just to be different but the paint was spraying bad, so I used GOLD paint; not bad but NOT what I really wanted. I did NOT want orange, 'cuz Tee painter her's orange, although that really stands out.

So I am guessing if later on you dont want them black anymore you could peel the paint off? If thats the case that is freaking awesome!!!!

Exactly the case. That's the main reason I tried this out, because it's completely reversible if I didn't like it (although I do.)
It's just a thin rubber coating on the rim.

A lot of guys do this also to their rims from what I've been reading online & a lot of cheap people like me that want black rims, but don't want to spend $600+ for them.

I read several threads where guys did all 4 of their rims with 2 cans. I don't know how that is possible, but anyway.
I used almost 2 cans just on the insides of the rims, behind the chrome cladding so when you look at the wheel, you don't see silver behind the black fronts.
Then I moved onto the fronts with my remaining 2+ cans. Still not enough to finish for me. I went back to the store and bought 2 more cans. I needed 1 to finish thoroughly, and 1 extra in case I had issues later. So altogether, I used 5 cans on these @ about $7 a can.

Damn that isnt bad at all! Like you said a lot cheaper than buying black wheels or have someone else paint them.

I think masking off the windows to paint them might be a bit tedious, but if you want to give it a shot - go for it. Just be sure to use nice coats - I did probably 4-5 coats on mine. Started off thin, then increasingly thicker.

I tried to mask off mine and paint the windows at first just to see how it would look - epic fail!! I couldn't even get the tape to stick to the chrome clads. LOL

Most people say it will last 1yr+ if applied properly. I looked today and found some light spots where I had to do some touch ups like around the edges and on the sides of the spokes on the rims. We'll see how it holds up.
If it doesn't, then I'm only out $35 and about 3hrs of time to do the painting.

Google it. There are tons of vids on youtube.com and lots of write ups about it. Cheap way to change your rims.

LOL.......thanks!!!! I am too embarrased to say what I thought you meant when you and Chris was mentioning painting the windows.
I will have to get get me some of that because I was wanting to see what my rims would like with the lip chrome and spokes painted black.

that is the perfect thing to use then - buy a can and do a test rim
if you like it, buy some more & if not - just peal it off

Once I put my GTS covers on the head lights / fogs / tail lights it will totally complete the blackout of all the chrome & white

prep for wheels or calipers?

wheels i only cleaned the chrome clads well, then sprayed them with the plasti dip - make sure you get them with a good coating though
calipers i just cleaned them well and sprayed the black with spray & the red was a brush on kit
