Got a new filter and 5 quarts of Mobil 1 5W30. Making the big switch tomorrow. Can't wait to see the difference. Got it for $6.40 a quart and am hoping it will lengthen the life of my ride.

View Full Version : Switching to Syntheric tomorrow BCWhite 03-12-2011, 02:59 AM Got a new filter and 5 quarts of Mobil 1 5W30. Making the big switch tomorrow. Can't wait to see the difference. BCWhite 03-12-2011, 03:19 AM Wow, just saw my misspelled word. Duoh! georgiaslim 03-12-2011, 02:57 PM Yeah I switched to Pennzoil ultra synthetic last year and noticed an immediate difference especially at idle. Once my car has warmed up I cant even tell if its running or not its so quiet. BCWhite 03-16-2011, 02:29 AM I love how mine feels when it's running on synthetic. I'm glad I switched. is2day4him 04-02-2011, 09:18 PM just made the switch yesterday. it's an expensive switch, but it was noticeable right off the bat! woot! Christine Lives 04-18-2011, 08:39 PM For my first oil change at 2000 miles, I went and got synthetic oil and filter done. I plan on using that oil all the time in my S/E. She seems to run much better with it. The man told me that it is a better quality of oil and it is designed for all cars including sports cars (our Challengers). Good choice by you. Take Care, Des Midnight Rider 04-18-2011, 10:31 PM how long are you planning on running it between oil changes? the main reason to go to a synthetic is extended oil drains. i put amsoil 5w-20 in our charger at 1080 miles and changed it after 7500 miles or so. did that twice and now AMSOIL has reformulated the 5w-20 to go 10000 miles (or 6 months but i always go by miles). so i changed my oil at 1080, then at around 8600, then again at 16200. next change will be at 26200. yeah its a bit more expensive, but the benefits out weigh the price difference a thousand fold!! Wildbee659 04-18-2011, 10:44 PM Everyone has their opinion on which brand but any synthetic oil is good for an engine. My Bee came with Mobil 1 0W-40 and I always use it. I change it every 5k miles and never had to add oil between oil changes. 73,500 miles and counting. WOT at least once or twice or more every time she goes out.:D NOTPAID4 04-19-2011, 01:18 AM I use synthetic in mine too, however I still change at 3,000 miles, of course I don't drive them that much, so it might be a year between changes. Christine Lives 04-21-2011, 01:02 PM I put my oil in at 2600 miles and I am keeping it in until 6000 miles. then, I am taking the car to Dodge and having my first check completed that is in the owners manual. I also am having the tires rotated. Dave vBulletin® v3.8.4, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
