i'm toying with the idea of tuning up my Challenger, but frankly i don't know anything about it. is it worth the money/what is the deal with getting maintenance done at the dealership when i have that set up? is there a place where i could learn more about the pros and cons of tuning my engine?

You won't believe the difference in adding a Predator tune. Makes driving much more fun.

^ agreed. The predator should come standard with our cars. It is completely safe to just plug and play with the canned tunes and then if you really want to add the power later you can have custom tunes written for your car by a cmr tuner. If you want to take the car in for service you simply return the car to the stock tune and you are good to go.

I agree also; made a HUGE difference on my 06 Mag SRT! Eliminated the annoying LAG at WOT take offs and between 1st and 2nd gears!

DSP are awesome, IMHO though..if you really want to have fun go with a custom tune from DS. the canned tunes are great, but customs are much better.

Note - make sure whatever route you go you pull the tune from the vehicle, set it back to stock before going to a dealer. otherwise they might flash the pcm (for updates) and you will lose your tune and have to contact whomever to get it restored. taking the vehicle from tune back to stock takes about 5 minutes, and vica versa.

i think my car is now qualified to be considered a rocketship.
my girlfriend was with me the first time i stomped on it after reprogramming... she said i looked like a 6 year old on Christmas morning.

Glad you like it. That was the best investment you could have made for the car. Now just make sure you don't let the modding bug bite you too hard.

I installed the 91 CAI tune with some octane booster. Car seems throatier now. Problem is I went to gas up yesterday and they don't sell 91 octane. WTF? So I filled her up with 93 and I'll be changing the tune today.

91 octane is typically only found in the midwest and to the left half of the country. there's a ton of different reasons why you can't regularly find it down south.

enjoy the new tune though!

How can you get a custom tune?

How can you get a custom tune?

You can contact Diablo and have them send you an email tune (I believe you have to do some datalogging first) or go to their website and look up a CMR tuner in your area.

I changed to the 93 CAI tune and yes I can feel the difference. Well worth it. Not having researched the available tunes can I change the tune when I install the shorty headers or just leave it like it is?

yes, you can get Diablo to set up a tune any way you want, from what i've been told, so that you can have it programmed to maximize all of your mods. i've been told it's not a cheap indeavor but it can be done!

Shorties won't affect anything to much but if you want to squeeze everything you can out of the car send an email to Johan. He is one of the top tuners in the country and is great to work with over email. He works on a donation basis so you basically send him what you think he deserves for the work he does. His email is diablotuna@gmail.com Search him on LXForums and you will get a ton of info on his work.

Agreed--- get it.. You won't believe how you lived without it. It is plug and play. Upgradeable and you can pit the factory tune back on.. Get it...
