So, we all know what I'm talking about -
I purchased this at my local dealership for $12.00.
Seemed like a really awesome idea. However, when I attempt to use it - it doesn't work. It doesn't even crank the engine!
When I took it to have a salesman help me with it - they were all scratching their heads. When I push the break...and then push the button...it dings like when you first put your key in... then a small red dot appears on my fuel dash area.
I even checked my owners manual and it simply states put the original key in the passenger seat. Push break. Push Button. Drive off.
Am I missing something????:4-dontknow::4-dontknow::4-dontknow::4-dontknow:

i think there is more too it than that. there is a chip in the push to start keys and a receiver in the car. if not factory equipped, its not going to work.

i think if it did not come with keyless go on the car the buttons not going to work there is a chip in the car that allows that button to work and you have to have your key fob on you as well or the car will not start if it doesnt detect the key fob..
Hope this helps David

If you don't have the "keyless go" option you need to return the button or you just blew $12. The dealer can install the KG system but it's not cheap.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll have to check out the dealership to see what they can do for me.
I'm not a member of the Z Forums so I can't see that post.

My SRT truck has a push button start. In my case, The Chip is in one of the keys. Use the correct key, push the button, and vroom! Use the other key, with out the Chip, the truck will not stay running.

So take two seconds and become a member there...DSM is a part of the Zforums family...lots of good info there.
+ it will be good info to take with you to the dealership, so
1. you can educate them,
2. you can scold them for not knowing any better,
3. use your knowledge as leverage for a better price on the Keyless Go purchase/install.
