View Full Version : Lovin the Hemi Power!!
1SRT8-2NV 05-05-2009, 02:09 AM Well I thought that I should start this section off since it has become my obsession, Hemi Power!! The Mopar Performance is like crack rock, once you get a little taste you just can't quit and usually you want to do more the next time than you did the last time. I know that with my first SRT8 I had a little bit of performance on the car and enjoyed it to the max. When I got my next SRT8 (the current one), I made a decision to try to have as much fun driving and racing the car that is humanly possible. So that is the thinking that has landed me in the spot that I am in now, driving a FRI'ed 426 Fully built P/P Balanced/Blue Printed and soon to have a Pro-charger F1-A pushing the car to its absolute limits on the street. Then I will be faced with a decision; To put a roll cage in the car or not?? If I don't I will be left with only street racing and going to car shows, where as if I put a roll cage in the car I will be able to race anywhere that I want and be able to meet their technical standards. So what do you do, do you go ahead and keep pushing on and let someone tear up the inside of the car or do you stop right here and just understand that you have built a bad a$$ machine. I guess it is a decision that I will have to make in the near future!!
Well I know that I am going to make a new thread in this performance section that is going to be a place for all of us to list all of our mods and that way if there is something that you might want to do to your car you can reference back to see if someone that you know locally already has that mod and you can easily get some feedback! So check out that thread and maybe we can get it stickied to the top so that it will be easily referenced.
Happy Modding!!
EXTREME 05-05-2009, 02:21 AM I'm digging your analogy to crack rock, I lol'd!
patrick2164 05-05-2009, 02:28 AM please dont do roll cage that would totally screw up interior and then we couldnt sucker anybody on the street ''hey man it only runs 13s'' ha ha
EXTREME 05-05-2009, 02:37 AM i have to agree with my boy here, **** a cage!
1SRT8-2NV 05-05-2009, 02:39 AM Yeah but if I don't do a cage I will not pass tech at any tracks in the country except Hub City because they don't give a damn. So if I want to go to any track that is having a big hemi shootout then I will not be able to run or anything because I won't meet safety standards......then what.....
EXTREME 05-05-2009, 02:44 AM Let off at the 1000'
OverCharged 05-05-2009, 05:07 AM ive got to get a damn hemi. atleast 1 year for me, but im saving so i can mod when i get it. i have $1700 so far. should have $3500 saved when its go time!
EXTREME 05-05-2009, 12:14 PM that will make a nice dent in the first round of mods!

I have noticed at moroso, they seemed to have stopped cracking down on safety measures when you run Wed & Fri nights for Test and Tune. I know they still crack down on events they have but practice seems to of stopped
There ain't no way I would put a roll bar in a bee, but that's just me. Then again, you have gone this far so why not? You gotta remember that the cage could save your life. With all of that power you might need it some day. I have seen some nice chromed ones before. If you do it, just keep it classy.
EXTREME 05-05-2009, 04:44 PM I agree with Mark, no roll cage.
The way i see it is this, either make the car a....
Full drag car, roll bar, slicks/skinnies, solid axle, maybe mini tub (only way to be "the fastest") cause if you aren't "the fastest" you're just another guy in the 10s lol thus not worth roll caging a car IMO
OR
A ****in fast street car who can play at the track but dominate the street scene cause it's a stock 6.1L with a blower running 12.5s :D
gecko4012 05-05-2009, 07:04 PM I'm with extreme on this one.
1SRT8-2NV 05-06-2009, 03:52 AM OK, so NO cage and just have a silly fast street car that will probably never get traction in a street race. But I guess it will at least put a little fear in people when they hear it coming!
EXTREME 05-06-2009, 03:55 AM you can run slicks on the skreet
oooooorrrrr for those races at the track when someone comes up to you sayin they got five hunid on the guy you're about to race. Lose by a fender and tell him you want another shot.... double or nothing
Joker 05-06-2009, 04:25 AM I have a completely bone stock 5.7, but I know my first engine mod will be an Aria CAI and 180 degree t-stat...oh and a BT catch-can.
MHemi 05-08-2009, 09:53 PM I have to agree with the Crack analogy and mods are the real addiction!Worse than crack!:D
DRP6982 05-08-2009, 09:58 PM You know I was thinking, at this point why not the roll cage. You have altered the heck out of the Bee which will only hurt its resale value(Long Term). You may as well do what you want with the car. At least the bar running across the drives side door is removable:D
BTW, What kind of cam you running ? You have the specs on it ?
RedInfierno 05-09-2009, 02:14 AM all i can say is .... i would LOVE to have a HEMI, it will happen, someday but it will...
patrick2164 05-09-2009, 11:05 PM **** dat cage shit me and extreme on d same page unless u goin all out y bother??? we can rule the sreet scene and hookup on the street thanks to m/t e.t. street r nitto 555 street legal and will mount up on ur stock wheels of course ur not gonna stall up to 3000 grand and leave but with a little practice shit we will b nino brown in this *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah that is kinda my thinking, I didn't buy this car with the thought of resale or the thought of ever trying to get rid of it. I bought it to build and drive hard and have fun with it, so I am really on the fence with the cage decision. As far as the cam, I think it is the thunderbolt from FRI.

I really just can't get any traction on the street, I am going to eventually put a wider and more aggresive tire on the rear but I don't think that is going to help that much. And who the hell is nino brown!??
dude my opinion.... Your a crazy SOB and with all that power I know your gonna get stupid sometimes and get caught up in the moment and get silly fast on the street. I would definitely add the roll bar to keep your silly a$$ alive! You got a beautiful wife and kids man think of safety. thats just me man. If I had all that power I know i would be a fool and i wanna see my kids grow up.

erniecon 05-13-2009, 01:01 AM Why do you mod your car? Don't you know once you start you will never finish!!:D
1SRT8-2NV 05-14-2009, 03:19 AM Why do you mod your car? Don't you know once you start you will never finish!!:D
OOHHH! Trust me I know that I will never be finished but this is all about a cage and the decision to be able to go racing at certain tracks that would otherwise ban me.

05hemiregcab 07-09-2009, 01:45 AM can you get 16" or 15" rims on the car? Figure with the big brakes 16 would be pushing it. But do that and some sticky sticky drag radials. m/t, hoosier, bfg, Something soft and sticky that only lasts like 5-8k miles. and you should get SOME traction.
If UR LOZN (david), blue ws6, with a built 427 (new vetter motor) and spray can get his too hook on the street. (low 10's on motor) I think you should be able to get it to hook, just gotta spend that money.
As far as the cage, that one is on you? Have a dominate street car, or a street/ drag car with a cage? Cages can be done nicely and padded to look halfway decent on the inside. But you still got a cage in there. But you can go have fun at the track? Its all in what you want man!
