View Full Version : Tail light tint problems...

So I painted my tail lights with Charger matched brilliant black paint along the top and sides (to match the line of the trunk) and then the rest was painted with tint spray. (except for the reverse light strips) I live in Miami where it is extremely humid and every time I paint a car part outside it never looks like I think it should (colors seem dull, final product isn't glassy, and clear coat doesn't shine like it should) which I'm convinced is because of the humidity. Anyways, I've had them painted for about a year and now they are orange peeling and just don't look very good. I'm going to get them professionally done because I know the same thing will happen if I re-spray them outside again. I have a few questions.... 1. What is a good price to pay for this job? 2. Does anyone know a good place in Miami to get it done. 3. Will my tail lights be able to be sanded down and fully painted with tint paint? Thanks everyone. -Matt

i really dont know any place where u cant spray them, but one recommendation when u spray paint... do your painting when its freaking hot outside, not when is humid, ull get a better product, i learn by myself, once i painted on a rainy day and it came out like caca, next day i repainted with the same stuff but it was hot as a mofo! it came out shinny and all good, just my 2 cents.

If i find someone to do ur lights ill let you know!

Sorry i don't know anywhere in miami. I sent mine to Jon @ http://www.jonstintedtails.com/ . I had a spare set of tail so it was not a problem as far as driving the car. Took about a week all in all.He does great work.
If you don't find somewhere local to do it check him out. He also has a core exchange program, where you send him yours and he sends you a tinted set... a little more expensive that way.

Here are mine,medium/dark with clear strips:

I had mine done by BMC in West Palm Beach. They are a supporting member and do great work. Check them out.

Contact Austin at identitydesignfl.com .... He is a supporting vendor on the z and all.... He has a spray paint that he uses and after a couple weeks you can wax your tails and bring out that awesome look you want. I am getting mine done by him when he gets the paint in..... Seen his work, I even have some done. YOu can mail your stuff to him too seeing he is in jax. He is the one who made the DSM decals. Good luck with the tails...
