Finally got my car back today. As mentioned in earlier post, service guy was backing in a truck beside my car (after an oil change) and he hit my front bumper with the trailer hitch from the truck. I can't believe at the end of the day, how much damage was actually caused by such a relatively small bump.
The bumper was damaged, and couldn't be repaired.. that was a given. Also the headlight bezel on drivers side had "popped" a clip or two, so that had to be replaced. However, as is typical it seems, once the front clip was removed, additional damage was discovered. Right where the front bumper had been hit, the grill had about a 3" crack, right on the seam between the black, flat piece, and the actual grill area itself. Of course, that had to be replaced as well. I believe that is a $300-$400 part.
All told, parts and labor, was somewhere right around $2 grand. All this for a 3MPH bump. Paint guy did a good job, but the whole thing took 10 days from start to finish. Was getting a bit frustrated, especially when the paint guy on Tuesday and said the grill was cracked! Seems like he could have/should have taken the bumper off right away, but he waited until the replacement bumper was finished being painted.
Overall - satisfied with the response and how they handled it. Dealership was good, other than not returning calls, and telling me parts would be in when they weren't. Guess that happens sometimes as well. I do feel a little bad for the driver that hit it... Dealership said he will have to pay for the whole thing out of his pocket! The insurance deductable they carry is $5K. Anything up to the deductable, the employee can be held liable!!! Was told afterwards he may not have to pay for it all, but will have to pay some.
Well.. alls well that ends well... Other than two friends here locally, y'all are the only ones who know it's been damaged.
