2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8: Exclusive First Look! (http://jalopnik.com/5208899/2012-jeep-grand-cherokee-srt8-exclusive-first-look)

http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/jalopnik/2009/04/2012_Jeep_Grand_Cherokee_SRT8_Jalopnik-topshot_01.jpg (http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/12/2009/04/2012_Jeep_Grand_Cherokee_SRT8_Jalopnik-topshot_01.jpg)The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (http://jalopnik.com/5203380/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-good-looking-but-is-it-enough) debuted last week, but we've got a first look at the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (http://jalopnik.com/tag/2012-jeep-grand-cherokee-srt8/). The real exciting news? We're told it'll get the 500 HP+ 6.4-liter (http://jalopnik.com/399592/64+liter-hemi+powered-sr-392-roadster-sema-special-to-hit-auction-block-at-monterrey) crate HEMI.
If the rest of the world's like us, then HELL YEAH! We're entering into big-time rumor territory here, but there is a glimmer of hope for both Jeep and SRT fans alike. We've heard from a source deep within Chrysler that things have been humming along quietly in the SRT garage as engineers work hard to develop the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (http://jalopnik.com/5141043/921-hp-jeep-grand-cherokee-srt8-completely-grenades-transmission) as a 2012 model.
2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 Sketch

The biggest news we've received is the high-po Jeep will receive the 6.4-liter 392 (http://jalopnik.com/399592/64+liter-hemi+powered-sr-392-roadster-sema-special-to-hit-auction-block-at-monterrey) HEMI (http://jalopnik.com/tag/hemi/) V8 with anywhere between 505-525 tire burning horsepower and roughly 510 ft-lbs of torque, all driven through a revised AWD system. The 392 HEMI (http://jalopnik.com/tag/392-hemi/) has also been rumored to show up in other 2010 SRT8 models, but we're guessing it'll arrive first in the mid-cycle refresh for both the Challenger (http://jalopnik.com/5038050/2009-dodge-challenger) and Charger (http://jalopnik.com/5160650/2010-dodge-charger-chrysler-300c-profiled) in 2011.
If the above sketches are anything to go by, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (http://jalopnik.com/tag/2012-jeep-grand-cherokee-srt8/) will be a subtle beast with lowered, sportier suspension, beefy SRT 5-spoke wheels, larger diameter rotors with grippy multi-piston calipers, revised front and rear fascias, a functional cold air induction cowl hood and a larger spoiler out back. We like what we're seeing.

I don't get it. A 6.4 in a jeep?

What about a Challenger or Charger?

Doesn't make sense to me...........

Chrysler needs to pull their heads out of their asses.

I think it's a great idea to put the 6.4 in it. I really want to see one in person. I might have to trade in my 07 for a 12. I thought the Challenger was also getting the 6.4.

Buying used is a good idea. Besides from the price difference, you can get some owner's feed back about the new style.

The Challenger and Charger are getting the new 6.4,well actually the whole SRT lineup besides the Viper of course.

I don't mind the SRT group hot rodding a Jeep, after all it is the quickest SRT off the line today.

What really bothered me was the fact that they WASTED good Viper motors by putting them in a 6500 lbs. truck shell and called it a SRT,when it had no performance at all to it....It sucked cause it was a truck.

The redesigned Charger will likely see this engine first since it is scheduled to be unveiled later this year.

that beast looks sick, and the perfect set would be the 6.4 jeep pulling the 6.4 chally to all the shows

i sort of wish they would have gone in the direction of the land rover looks like the 06-10 WKs, this sort of looks like a mid 2000's X-5. Sort of mom'ed it out a little. Maybe a drop and front effects will butch up the look a little.
