Friday Night Drags Series is a heads up, street-style drag racing series on Atlanta Motor Speedway’s eighth-mile pit road. Averaging 225 drag racers and 90 show cars in front of nearly 5,000 fans nightly, Friday Night Drags has become one of the Speedway’s most-popular events with local racing enthusiasts.
Drag racing action is open to any automobile and any driver possessing a valid driver’s license. In addition to the on-track drag racing action, a Show N' Shine car show also takes place each Friday night. Spectator entry for Friday Night Drags is just $7. Competitors pay $20 to drag race or enter the Show-N-Shine, or a combo-ticket to enter both can be purchased for $30. Outside parking is free or fans can park on the Speedway’s Infield for close proximity to the action for just $20. Motorcycle parking is free on the Infield.
Pit gates open at 6:00 p.m. for competitors and grandstand gates open at 6:30 p.m. for fans. The drag Tech Area will open at 6:00 p.m. and practice runs begin at 6:15 p.m. and run through 8:15 p.m. A driver’s meeting will take place at 8:25 p.m. Drag racing eliminations begin at approximately 9:19 p.m. and follow Friday Night Drags’ nightly Opening Ceremonies at 9:10 p.m. Please note, no minors are allowed in the pre-stage/grid area or winner's lanes and only the driver and one crew member are allowed in winner's lanes.
For the Show-N-Shine car show, judging begins at 6:30 p.m. Entrants are invited to participate in a Show-N-Shine Speedway Cruise around Atlanta’s 1.54-mile quad oval track at 8:20 p.m., but are encouraged to return to their vehicles before 8:00 p.m. to stage for the Cruise. Following the Cruise, the Show-N-Shine Awards Ceremony will take place at 8:55 p.m. on the Speedway’s frontstretch in front of thousands of racing fans.

Now if they put that on in Commerce Georgia it would be doable for the upstate chapter to participate in these events.But since it's at the speedway in Hampton Georgia I don't think none of us can make that kinda drive on Fridays.

Man I wish they would do something like this in Commerce,it would be a 1/4 mile rather than 1/8 mile and would be central for the upstate and Atlanta chapters to be able to enjoy this together.

The upstate chapter will be there in September for the Southern Classic Mopar show,see ya then I hope.

cool!!!!..... thats my plan also ..... just the show portion..... im not much for drag racing ........but will partake in the laps around the speedway :D

Sounds like alot of fun!!! It would be great to have a bunch of us go. I myself will try and get the day scheduled off when I get back to work friday. Fingers crossed!!!

cool John if ur going to be in the show & shine get there by 5:30pm to get a spot in the pit preparing area ...gate opens at 6....if ur just going to watch the show any time after 7pm is good parking outside the track is free 7 dollars a head to get in....will get really crowded after 8pm as most people will be there for the drag racing

hi guys....... Vanessa (my bees name) took first place for best stock vehicle:smileup: at the show last night.....its was her first show so was very proud of her.......

special thks to Brian for making such a long trip to be there ......sorry that more of u could not make it but totally understand ....we all have our obligations and commitments .....having a little trouble with my camera will post photos soon

I made it to the Friday Night Drag, even took my wife, what a blast!!!!

DIdn't get down to the pit/show area though, guess the people we sat behind were so loud didnt know there was a tunnel to get over to the infield area till just before the races started.

I took plenty of pictures and even spotted Vince's car driving on the track!
Pictures will be forthcomming. I even think I saw my wife smiling!

They were drag-racing everything from full blown to ATVs, and the kids event with the battery cars was funny.

Vince .. no problem, was glad I could make it, thanks for the invite and was good to say hello to the family again.
