La300 06-11-2009, 02:35 AM Ok i just put two 12in subs in my cousins Magnum. And he has a little 400 watt amp for now he says. The dang amp gets HOT as heck and everything is wired right. When he drives the amp cuts off and on. But when your parked its fine but still EFFIN HOTTT!!!!!!
Its under the false floor. Also using 4 gauge wire
RedInfierno 06-11-2009, 02:44 AM 1. it should have more ventilation
2. how big are your subs? might be drawing too much power from the amp
3. try to bting down the juice and see what happens
patrick2164 06-11-2009, 03:06 AM is it bridged ? still prolly amp under 2 much gain stress tryna drive them

A lot of people have there subs in that spot.Ion know what to say. The subs r Pioneer Champion series(400watt rms 1200 Max). And the power on the amp is down and it feels like a oven
La300 06-11-2009, 04:48 AM Also forgot....2 chanel amp....2 12in subs..DVC 4ohm
mrjoecool 06-11-2009, 01:38 PM ok if they are dvc 4ohm and you got it wiredin parrallel then the amp is seeing a 1 0hm load
what kind of amp is it and what load rating is it stable it looks like a 2 channel amp
so basically you have the speakers wired wrong configuration for that amp

I think the raiting is 2ohm.. I saw pic on crutch field so im going to try that
mrjoecool 06-11-2009, 07:00 PM if thats is the case hook one speaker to each channel them you should be fine
La300 06-11-2009, 09:46 PM if thats is the case hook one speaker to each channel them you should be fine

thats wat i suggest
make sure you have the right olm load. Sounds like you dont have it right! The amp shouldnt cut off like that. Also make sure you have enough power and the right guage power wire. sometime sub amps cut out when they are power starved.
patrick2164 06-19-2009, 11:33 PM yeah what jay said
Watch the ohms of the subs and the amp.you said 4ohm.if you are running it with the subs wired + and - it should be good.if it has bridge switch make sure its off.if it a stereo amp make sure you are using lowpass filter.and running an amp like that make sure you use at the least an 8g power wire 4g even better.don't forget to fuse the power wire to the amp as well.
chithead 10-08-2009, 12:18 PM Sounds like it was wired incorrectly. Glad you got it all sorted out.
