SRT Track Experience at Road Atlanta

The Wife and I just got signed up for the SRT Track Experience (http://www.drivesrt.com)at Road Atlanta (http://www.roadatlanta.com/trackmap.lasso)and were wondering who else might be there on Thursday, July 22nd. (https://secure.srttrackexperience.com/srt/registration/view_events.jsp) We Live in the Mobile, AL area and plan on leaving around mid morning on Wednesday heading up.

If anyone else is heading that way maybe we can cruise that way together.

If anyone else is attending, let us know where you are staying, Maybe we can stay at the same place as we have no idea which hotels are best to stay at, as we might be there for 2 nights (before and after event) unless we stop somewhere on way back home.

We are also thinking about visiting one of The Varsity (http://www.thevarsity.com/)Locations before we head back home. Which Location and Time is best? (http://www.thevarsity.com/locations.php)

I am going, and four other Birmingham SRT owners, two with SRT Challengers, and two with new 2010 SRT Grand Cherokees. Also, a Challenger R/T owner is going as a non-driver. All for the 22nd.

I haven't reserved a room yet, but have checked out the area. Prices range from about $60 up, closest hotel is 3 miles. I was looking at a place with good ratings that ran about $70 total, two beds (sharing with one of the Challenger owners.

Here's what I recommend. Go to Priceline, set the location for Braselton, GA, sort by closest to Road Atlanta. That will get you good idea of what's available. The basic service has the usual cancellation policies, and prices are competitive to most online hotel services. I have had great success using their "name your price" feature, where you say $40-50 a night and set the star ratings at 3 stars or more. You'd be amazed that higher end hotels will sell you a room for this price, or perhaps a little bit higher. The drawback is the room is not refundable (unless pay $5 for trip cancellation insurance), you pay for it immediately, and you have to contact the hotel to set up special accomodations. The plus side is that's the price, it's prepaid, and unless you go nuts with room service or movies, you check out owing nothing. Usually you are offered the chance to add nights at that rate, too, so you can select the next night as well.

I once got two nights at the Intercontinental Buckhead, usually a $300 a night room, for $60 a night. Amazing.

I did a little research yesterday.

I was unable to find out where the SRT People are staying for Road Atlanta.

Oh well, I got excited there for a minute. We have already planned to go to Charlotte for the SRT Experience on June 26. It sure would be nice to be able to go do it closer to home.

I think they added it a few weeks ago.

If you want to go closer to home, you could give them a call. They might switch locations? Who knows, you might hit it Lucky?

I know of 3 going from Mobile, AL, (2 SRT owner/drivers and 1 non-driver). and If I remember correctly, 8 from Birmingham, AL (7 SRT owners/drivers and 1 non-driver) are going to Road Atlanta on July 22, 2010 as far as I know at this time.

We made out reservations for the night of July 21, 2010 and requested to be near the rest of the SRT Group. We might stay the next night as well, it depends on what we are doing the day after the event, others are heading back home after the event. Someone mentioned they might stop at The Varsity (http://www.thevarsity.com/)to eat on their way home.

On Friday, the day after the event, some of us might go to YearOne (http://www.yearone.com/) or an old Car Museum and The Varsity (http://www.thevarsity.com/)to eat and who knows what else before we leave the area. We are open for suggestions.

I've just traded in my R/T for an SRT yesterday and was told details for the SRT day would come in the mail. But as there is only a few weeks until the ATL experience, can you register directly (before details arrive in the mail) as I suspect if I wait, I'll miss the event.

If I remember correctly when I first got my SRT, I called the SRT Track Exp and they informed me that it would take about 4 weeks for my VIN No to get into their system before I could sign up.

Give them a call, The timing might be different now.

I have yet to hear anything from them in the mail in regard to the Track Experience, so its best to call them.

I think the last one near Atlanta was a couple of years ago... I don't know when the next one is going to be.

SRT Track Experience
Well, It's just about here.

We are making the final plans for our trip to Road Atlanta. We are Planning on stopping at one of The Varsity locations to grab a bite before going to check in, It would be nice if we all could meet together and cruise to check in together.

What time is the Birmingham group planning on arriving in Braselton/Atlanta? I think Braselton is about 30 minutes or so on the East side out of Atlanta.

I know some of you will be spending Wednesday Night at the hotel and I heard some of you might be driving up the morning of the event.

BTW, The Hotel just called to remind me and to confirm our reservation this afternoon.

I've spoken (faxed/called and emailed!) with the SRT experience (as my VIN is not on the sys) and waiting for them to verify it with Chrysler...hopefully this will happen in time for next week's event :smileup:

Weird...just heard back from the SRT Experience - 22nd is full but availabity on the 23rd? As soon as the VIN check comes back, I can register.
