So I was wondering what everyone's opinions are on GDOT converting some of the HOV lanes on I-85 to HOT lanes. For those that don't know it converts it into an HOV lane that requires at least 3 people in the car instead of 2 and provides others who do not qualify to pay a toll that varies in price based on time and congestion of the road. The toll can bee as much as $5.00.
The particular stretch of road is I-85 between Old Peachtree Road (exit 109) in Gwinnett County and Chamblee Tucker Road (exit 94) in DeKalb County. Here is the link to the FAQ:
http://www.dot.state.ga.us/informationcenter/activeprojects/Interstates/I85hotlanes/pages/FAQs.aspx#1.1
By the way, if anyone has first hand experiences of it in the locations it is already implemented I would love to hear them.
Edit: forgot to mention that it looks like it will use a different cruise card than the GA-400 uses even though both are operated by SRTA
