Curious if others are using the mopar oil filter for their challenger? (always use, only use while under warranty, use other brand, other).
Filter MO-899 part number 4884899AB

Local dealer charges 8.45

Vendor on ebay selling by the case, brings cost per filter down to 3.84

I use the Mopar filters. When I brought the car I got 5 years oil change free as part of the deal.

I use Mopar filters MO-090 but mostly because of the originality factor. As far as performance it is probably inline with the basic average middle of the road filter better than the cheapie ones. If you want a premium/performance filter I would go with a BOSCH or a Mobil 1 or K&N.

i agree if i was paying for them. any of the above would work. they are all good brands!!

Hey Vince,

I had talked to a couple of people who race cars and they swore by RP.
So that's why I went with it.

I guess time will tell...

i read somewhere amsoil for our cars is usin a wix filter. and the mopar filter is proned to problems (none of which are terrible). So i got 3 free oil changes and then its back to amsoil (im a dealer) or mobil1 oil and filters for backup

just put amsoil in my charger and i got an amsoil oil filter for it. you can get a wix filter as well, but the amsoil filter is guaranteed for 25,000 miles, just like the oil is

RP and Amsoil are both good products. With that said you have to make sure your vehicle justifies the cost involved there. RP is like $7.99/qt and those equivalent filters are $10+. Unless you really do have a modded vehicle, race or drive really hard it is hard to justify spending $50+ just for the oil and filter and then labor.

Of course you do what the owner's manuals says most of the new Challengers and LH cars with the 5.7 & 6.1 Hemis have Mobil 1 as factory fill but otherwise even a good semi synthetic and a good quality mid level filter is more than adequate for most driving habits.

On my two Imperials with their old fashioned big Chrysler motors get Shell 15W40 Rotella with Mopar filters (for looks).

I use PureOne (the more expensive Purolator). It used to be painted dark blue, but now comes in a frosted yellow color. By "frosted" I mean that the paint on the filter has something like sand in the paint, so it is not smooth.

Regarding oil: I use whatever brand name conventional 5W-20 oil is on sale at the time I change it. So this 5.7 has seen Pennzoil, Castrol, Havoline, Exxon, etc.

I've been using that same filter, but I had been using Castrol GTX. Planning on upgrading to synthetic oil soon.
