I will be purchasing new tires this week for my SE, going from the stock 17's to a set of R/T polished 18's.

I have been given a recommendation to use General Altimax HP 225/60 18's.

Anyone have experience with the tires and have comments.

I'm looking for a ride comfort, quiet, wet traction, etc.

I know there are higher quality tires available, but, this is a 2.7 v-6. Not too worried about driving it overly aggressive. She is all about stylin!!!

i got these on my cruiser right now. i bought them for the 55k mile warranty and i have slicks for the track. mine are 215/40/17. they are quite, and smooth. even with such a low profile they ride well. dry traction... meh, but thats not really fair on my car. they handle great in the rain. i'm in jax and it always rains. i have not hydroplaned or skid once. the best part is i got all 4 delivered for like $380 something.

Thanks to both of you for the advice.
Likely going with the generals, my uncle can get them for me at his cost which seems to be a great price.
The same tires at trax out the door is about $200 higher. Not paying that price for nitrogen vs. air.

Congrats on the new wheels. I just recently did the same with my SE though I went with Yoko 520s. Isn't is great to dump the "plastic platters"?

I would recommend the Toyo proxies 4 vehicles,They have a better wet traction and have a longer tread ware. They are also made specifically for our vehicles
The Grabbers are decent but I know a few members that have changed from those to the Toyo's.

Either way, congrats on the upgrade and good luck in your decision!
