Yeah, you will need to update your predator and will need the serial cable and power plug to do it.

you have to do the calibration update, which i think you have to do to all of them. you can get the cord you need from Radio Shack, Best Buy, WalMart, anywhere that sells computer cables will have them. Thats what I did

be careful w/ generic cords. i bought three and the computer would not recognize my dsp.

the updated crom can be found on the diablo sport website under the section labeled downloads.

when they update the crom they make changes to the 93 octane tune... it happens probably once a year. they figure a way to squeeze a little more power then give it out as an update. my cars latest crom v19.2 showed a dyno increase of 6whp BUT max torque was achieved 500rpm sooner.

if you are running a custom tune the crom updates do not apply to you as you are not on the 93 octane tune.

cal-id: is the systems (dsp) way of identifiying your vehicle make and model. if it needs to be updated it's probably because your retailer (whoever you bought it from) does not do much business in that model DSP and has had it in stock for 9months to a year. diablo sport sends out all new dsp's with the most up to date cal id.

you can also check the most recent release for the updated cal id to see when the last possible production day for your dsp was (just for fun).

nope did not need the power cable, with my computer i had no problems with it recognizing the generic cable but i have a high powered mac that does like everything and I have windows on it

wow and here i thought i was just plug and play but i think i will go to radishack and try and get the cables so once i hook it to the computer and dowload the new crom file i just move the file to my predator?

then you need the power cable.

the item called downloader is the program that moves files from diablo to your dsp to your car.


you think thats tuff? i'll send you the program code for my "boost by gear" box... that shits crazy!

Mine also wouldn't work in my car when I got it either. Had a heck of a time getting the latest crom file downloaded and it's is supposed to be loaded now, but I haven't gone back to the car yet to try it out... Hope to soon!

hey AMP you shouldnt need the new crom file if you bought it brand new, the brand new ones already have the new crom downloaded to them. you should just need to download the calibration update

When you hook your predator up to your OBDII port it will tell you if you need to update. If so you will need the power supply and the USB interface to download from the Diablo site. All the instuctions for downloading are on the site.



Anytime someone buys a predator you need these items to download any updates or if you have a problem with a tune.

^^^^ SO true, mine was BRAND NEW and when I hooked it up it stated it needed the lastest crom file! When I kept trying to download it for some reason it kept saying...."cannot locate devise"! Finally did get it figured out, I THINK? When downloading to my car... how will I know it was successful... does it say this?????

can i still custom tune it and if so does anybody have any tunes that work good for them?

Only use the tunes that come on it. Down the road when you get bigger mods that call for custom tuning, take it somewhere and they will tune it for you.

Try this, plug your predator up to the OBDII port
if the key is only turned to accessory and not to the ON position the Predator will tell you a tune has already been loaded...
