When I lived in North GA.. "Dawsonville GA"
One place I loved to drive was HWY 53, HWY 52, Or HWY 136 from East to West and back, Between GA 400 and I-75
SO AWESOME curves and beautiful mountain views..
I always ended my drive with going up and down the Amicaloa Falls.

So if you guys do this drive on Saturday April 10th..
I will be able to go.

I had one route planed out. Then I came up with another. So I'll be driving again this Sunday. I'll fill Eddie in on Saturday.

And thanks for the invite and yes we wanna do this with ya'll just let me know enough a head cause I do not wanna plan one of our rides the same weekend.

Our first ride will be in April and then every month after till October.But I know yours will be in April or after also but two rides in one month is fine with me.

Hey Eddie,if ya'll make it April 10th then we will plan to be there then.And it is a Saturday which is the day I prefer to do events on,I get lazy on Sunday's and you have to allow for church and then there is not much time after that.

OK Couldn't do the drive Sunday, Soooooooo we are going this Saturday.

Here's a preview at what we will be looking at this Saturday.

1)Toccoa Falls
2)Tallulah Falls
3)Helen
Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway which we pick up outside of Helen and is 38 miles through the mountains with several falls and overlooks along the way.
4)Brass Town Bald (tallest peak in GA.)


We will probably meet up with Shane and the SC Chapter in Lavonia off I85.

This is so far what I will be looking at, timing all the stops and looking for a place for lunch. Probably back in Helen. If it looks good and we have more time we will probably go further west towards Amicalola Falls as I think Bullish suggested.

Anyway this is what I mapped out so far......

It took me 1 hour 45 minutes to get to lavonia doing speed limit. Theres a race track right off the exit we can meet at.
From there we went on to Toccoa Falls. About 20-25 minutes. I'll send some pics to Eddie and Shane. Don't want to post them here.

From there went on to Tallulah Falls. About the same time wise to get there.
There's a overlook along the road you can see the gorge and river. To view the falls you have to enter the park.And of course it's $5.00 to park. Don't think we want to do that. Me and Theresa went in to scout it out. A lot of walking to actually view the falls and there are several in that gorge. It's very nice but to much time spent in there to see the falls. On a good note Georgia Power is releasing water from the Dam on April 10 so the river and rapids should be more of a sight then it was on Saturday.

That's it so far. We left Kennesaw at 9:15 in the morning and got back at 6:00 PM. Of course we asked questions at each spot and Tallulah falls we spent way to much time there. And we didn't know where we were going so that's why it took so long.

We will head back the week after next to hit Helen and Brass Town Bald along the scenic byway.

Joe I know exactly how you feel bro scouting out a good route to take with a group,it is work and a LOT of time.

With that said I personally want to THANK YOU for your efforts and time you are putting into this ride,not to mention the expense you are taking on.Really Thanks!!!!!

Looks like the ride will be great. Thanks for wasting all of that gas for us! Any ideas on food along the routes? What about saving some moolah and eating at one of the parks? $5 is pretty cheap, and it would give us an area where we could all meet?
