View Full Version : Tire question
STAR444 12-11-2009, 04:17 PM OK, so we bought 20s from Revmarc replacing our stock 17s on the 300. The tire pressure monitor keeps going on. Took it to the dealer and they put air in and adjusted it to read 18" tires but couldn't go any higher and that also regulated the speedometer some. Soooo, the tire pressure light has come on again and also the ESP/BAS light today. Any ideas out there in Mopar land that will help me understand what is happening and if there is anything more to do to stop those warning lights from coming on??? Thanks. :4-dontknow:
FRESH4849 12-11-2009, 05:49 PM Thats weird, i dont know what to tell you. My mom had 22's on her 300 and never had that problem unless there was an actual problem with the tire itself (such as air pressure etc.) I hope you figure out your problem Pam!

Thanks, Chris. Do you know if they reset anything for her tires or not? :)

Oh, a predator. Those are kinda pricey. Hadn't thought about the predator actually. Thanks for the info, Norm.

I was thinking the same thing. But if the dealer flashed it for 18" not 20" that might cause the BAS light to come on.
The original TPSM light coming on might just be a bad sensor. Also when they do come on and you fix the problem you need to drive it for several miles before it goes off.(resets)
Why couldn't they flash it for the 20"?
Joe

Yes, I drove it for a while and the TPS flashed on again then went off. They said they could only set it to 18" no higher for my car! :4-dontknow:
FRESH4849 12-13-2009, 08:49 PM Hey Pam! I talked to my mom and she said she had the same problem when she had her 300 with 22's. She said she just took it to the dealership and they reprogamed it for the 22's and no longer had any problems. Might need to try a new dealership if they cant reprogram for 20's

Thanks, Chris. That's funny that they couldn't set it any higher on mine. Don't understand. I went to Benson in Greer so you would think they could. May take it by Mean Streets to see what they say!

Thanks, Ted. The sensor came on again today for a few seconds and then turned off. :4-dontknow:

The guy at the dealership did mention nitro. Where do you get that done? :smiley_thumbs_up:
FRESH4849 12-14-2009, 03:35 AM Hey Pam got some more info for ya. Along with having my parents 300 reprogrammed for 22's they had to get new sensors. The TPMS sensors are so sensitive that the slightest thing will cause them to go bad. My dad said when the shop that did the silver wing package was putting the 22's on that the first time they forgot to put the sensors in so the light was going off. When they sent it back they put the sensors in but they were already bad so once they put new sensors and reprogram they never had any more problems. My dad said that the service manager reprogrammed the car for the 22's himself at the dealership
STAR444 12-14-2009, 01:31 PM Thanks for that info, Chris! :)
Hey Pam I talk to my friend Charles in the parts dept.if he knew your last name he would look up your file to see who told you that.he said to swap your sensors from old tires on to the new ones.I guess there different types of sensors they use and send info to the computer differently.

Hey Ted--I spoke with a Charles regarding center caps. I bet it's the same one. He's a friend of Marcus, too. I will tell Clemens about switching the sensors. We'll have to break down everyone of those tires to switch! Thanks for checking on that. Appreciate it!!!
You are welcome.yea he is the only charles in the parts dept.what he told me is that some sensors work of inferred and some work off freq.waves.you will still need to get the puter flashed for the bigger rims. When you go back check with Charles first before service when getting it flashed.

Hi Ted,
Thanks once again. I sent Charles an email regarding this and I just heard back from him this morning. He said he'll do some more research and get back to me. So that's good. He also mentioned the infrared and rf frequency and that we may need to put the old sensors back on. He also said he knew that they put 22s on some of the cars on the lot! Will let you know what he says.
Excellent!Charles is a good guy!he has been helping me and getting parts for the car since I bought it.keep us updated.
Revmarc 12-17-2009, 04:26 PM That's weird. Those are brand new sensors, and I had no probs with them at all...
It may be, as said, that your car requires the older senosrs you have in your other rims. Either way, Charles is THE go-to guy.
